A Voice For the Voiceless

The Advocacy Project helps marginalized communities to tell their story, claim their rights and produce social change. We recruit graduate students to volunteer as Peace Fellows with partners.

The Impact of Service

"Speaking with locals and living in a country is the best way to learn about the real lives of citizens, not just the stories in the mainstream media. I will be more critical of what I read as a result of this experience. I also feel even more grateful for my education, and I feel a stronger responsibility to assist others who do not have resources or access to opportunities in their communities."

Maria Skouras (New York University) volunteered in 2011 as a Peace Fellow for eHomemakers in Malaysia.

The Advocacy Forum

The Advocacy Project receives many requests for partnership from all over the world. We are delighted to attract the attention of so many brave advocates. But our ability to provide service to partners is limited. In addition, it takes time to develop new partnerships and ascertain that our model of support is appropriate.

As a result, AP provides an online clearinghouse that responds to inquiries, and offers community-based human rights advocates a presence on the World Wide Web but does not carry the obligations of full partnership. The Advocacy Forum contains a mission statement and provides contact information. We hope to draw future partners from the Forum.

We welcome applications for the Forum and for full partnership. Please consult our criteria for partnership and information about submitting a partnership application. The Forum is organized by country or territory, and by issue.
