Become an E-Mentor

The Advocacy Project is seeking to connect 2009 Peace Fellows with one or more “e-mentors” who will follow their blogs during the summer.

This program dates from the summer of 2008, when members of the Zonta Women’s Club of Washington offered to follow the blogs of several AP fellows from universities in the Washington area, and follow up with emails. The Club is committed to empowering young professional women.

AP is now seeking to expand this program, and in the process build a constituency of support for the work of partners. As an e-mentor, you pledge to follow a Fellow’s blog, connect with the Fellow over the summer - either by commenting directly to the Fellows blog or through email - and being accessible at the end of the summer for follow-up. E-mentors are also encouraged to attend outreach events and help Fellows organize an event for their hosts.

Become an e-mentor today. It is easy and provides support for a Peace Fellow committed to international service.

   1. Choose a Fellow
   2. Go to the Fellow’s blog
   3. Subscribe to get email updates on new blogs (Add your email address
to the subscribe box located on the right hand side of the blog).
   4. Add comments to the blog posts and/or email and the Fellow with ideas
       and suggestions.

“This is a fantastic program. I am in awe of what these young people are doing out there.” Heather Dolstra, a travel agent in Washington DC and Zonta member who “e-mentored” an AP Peace Fellow in Serbia in 2008.

2008 Peace Fellows (from left) Krystal Sirman, Janet Rabin, and Juliet Hutchings were e-mentored by several members of the Zonta Women’s Club of Washington, DC. Krystal, Janet and Juliet were invited to speak at the Club’s annual dinner in October 2008 about their fellowships in Jordan, Serbia and Uganda respectively.
