Willow Heske and the Democracy and Workers' Rights Center in Palestine (DWRC)

Willow Heske is a graduate student pursuing a masters degree in international affairs at Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs. Her concentration is international security policy with a focus on conflict resolution and modern state formation in Africa and the Middle East. She graduated from Rutgers University-Newark, with a BA in history.

Willow has an extensive background in social policy, gender-specific public health and non-profit management and is very excited to extend her policy work advocating for Palestinian labor rights. As the daughter of two union workers, and a careful student of the New Deal, Willow strongly believes that labor organizations have played a crucial role in forming modern democracies and that unions can provide an important first step towards socio-economic development.

Willow has been studying Arabic in addition to her masters degree and looks forward to putting her language skills to the ultimate test in Palestine this summer working with the Democracy and Workers' Rights Center (DWRC).

FIND A PARTNER

The Advocacy Project develops partnerships with advocates on the frontline and with nongovernmental organizations (NGOs). In so doing, we take our cue from partners and tailor any support to their needs.
