These children are the concern of the Chintan Environmental Research and Action Group, a new AP partner in India. Chintan seeks to get these young recyclers off of the streets, out of the trash dumps, and into learning centers where they can prepare for admission into municipal schools. Chintan also gives the really poor children money to buy food.

Help Educate Street Children in India
Hundreds of Indian children spend their childhood in trash, working for their next meal. They pick out paper envelopes, discarded coffee cups, cans and glass bottles out of waste dumps to sell to recyclers and use the money they get to feed themselves. This not only deprives them of a chance to get a quality education – which is their only way out of poverty – but also exposes them to serious illness.
