A Voice For the Voiceless
The Advocacy Project helps marginalized communities to tell their story, claim their rights and produce social change. We recruit graduate students to volunteer as Peace Fellows with partners.

Nicole Cordeau and Jagaran Media Center (JMC)
Nicole, a native of Canada, is studying development in Georgetown’s Master of Science in Foreign Service program. Prior to graduate school, Nicole completed a BA in history and political science at McGill University and spent a year doing community development work in Honduras. She has also interned with the Institute for Global Engagement, an advocacy group that works on freedom of religion issues. Nicole has traveled all over the world (including to Nepal), speaks French and Spanish fluently, and hopes to eventually pursue a career in human rights law.
This summer Nicole will be interning at the Jagaran Media Center, a media alliance committed to ending caste-based discrimination. JMC’s programs focus on exposing human rights abuses against the Dalit, lobbying for greater inclusion, and training young Dalit journalists. She hopes that her skills in proposal development, workshop facilitation, and editing will allow her to make a significant contribution to JMC’s work. Nicole will be supporting JMC’s ongoing institutional development, networking with the donor community, and producing content for AP and the JMC.
