A Voice For the Voiceless

The Advocacy Project helps marginalized communities to tell their story, claim their rights and produce social change. We recruit graduate students to volunteer as Peace Fellows with partners.

The Impact of Service

"I look at myself as having the potential to be as strong and caring as the amazing women I met in Kenya."

Kate Cummings (Tufts University) volunteered in 2009 as a Peace Fellow for Vital Voices in Africa.

Adam Nord and the Home for Human Rights (HHR)

Adam Nord is supporting the Home for Human Rights (HHR) in Sri Lanka as an Advocacy Project Peace Fellow (2007-2008). As a recent graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center, Adam focused on international human rights law and earned a certificate in refugees and humanitarian emergencies.

Adam is supporting HHR's mission to preserve, protect and prevent the violation of human rights in Sri Lanka, based on national and international law. Toward this goal, Adam advocates for victims and survivors of human rights violations using law as an instrument for justice. Adam also produces reports on torture and explores judicial redress possibilities - which includes drafting and filing petitions and appeals to the national courts and international bodies.

Adam's passion and commitment can be seen in the breadth of his experience in working at local and international human rights organization in Switzerland, Jerusalem and Egypt. Adam is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a bachelor's in psychology, as well as East Asian languages and cultures.
