A Voice For the Voiceless

The Advocacy Project helps marginalized communities to tell their story, claim their rights and produce social change. We recruit graduate students to volunteer as Peace Fellows with partners.

The Impact of Service

"I look at myself as having the potential to be as strong and caring as the amazing women I met in Kenya."

Kate Cummings (Tufts University) volunteered in 2009 as a Peace Fellow for Vital Voices in Africa.

Support the Program

The Advocacy Project sent 24 Peace Fellows to work in 16 countries in 2010. Help us to continue to make these opportunities available to our partners, and committed young professionals!

Supporting this program is a year-round effort.

January to April: AP’s fellowship team advertizes new posts and conducts hundreds of interviews with applicants, by phone and in person.

May: AP puts Fellows in touch with their hosts; sets up their blogs; organizes trainings in Washington (above).

June to August: AP provides extensive back-up for Fellows in the field, including tech support, information dissemination, and contact with mentors

September to December: AP staff help returning Fellows organize outreach, including a reception with ambassadors in Washington. AP’s Fellowship Coordinator launches the next year’s program at visits to universities across the US.

Support international service and strengthen grassroots advocacy! Thank you.
