A Voice For the Voiceless

The Advocacy Project helps marginalized communities to tell their story, claim their rights and produce social change. We recruit graduate students to volunteer as Peace Fellows with partners.

The Impact of Service

"I look at myself as having the potential to be as strong and caring as the amazing women I met in Kenya."

Kate Cummings (Tufts University) volunteered in 2009 as a Peace Fellow for Vital Voices in Africa.

Jeff Yarborough and the Collective Campaign for Peace (COCAP)

Jeff Yarborough is joining The Advocacy Project this summer as a Peace Fellow with the Collective Campaign for Peace (COCAP) in Nepal. Jeff is currently a student at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs where he is pursuing a masters of international affairs with a concentration in human rights.

He previously received a BA in Russian and East European Studies from Pomona College, where he spent a year studying abroad in Moscow. Upon graduation his interest in the post-Soviet world led him to Kyrgyzstan where he taught English for a year.

Jeff’s previous experience in the nonprofit world working on child advocacy and peace and security issues, combined with his overseas experience, has provided him with a strong commitment to social justice and human rights, and he is eager to be joining COCAP this summer at their focal point office in Mahendranagar.

Jeff will be working with COCAP staff to develop and implement advocacy programs and trainings, assisting with reports and evaluations, and developing and writing grant proposals. Jeff is very excited to have the chance to work with The Advocacy Project and COCAP, and is looking forward to a memorable summer.
