The Advocacy Project helps marginalized communities to tell their story, claim their rights and produce social change. We recruit graduate students to volunteer as Peace Fellows with partners.

Youth Cultural Center

The mission of the Youth Cultural Centre (YCC) is to unite and develop the creative potentials of young people in the region of South Eastern Europe and to raise the level of youth participation in civil society. The organization strives towards the development of urban cultural production and intercultural exchange, building membership capacities and development of voluntarism, development of skills of young people and support of civic initiatives and campaigns. • YCC organizes cultural events such as concerts, performances, debates, exhibitions, etc.

• YCC educates young people by hosting courses, seminars, workshops and trainings.

• Following the passage of a Macedonian law on volunteering, YCC is planning a campaign to promote awareness of the new law.

• YCC is helping plan the festivities for Macedonia's participation in the Global Youth Service Day 2008. On the first day, volunteers will take part in various service-learning activities across Macedonia. On the second day, there will be a festival in Skopje to highlight volunteerism in Macedonia.

• Government Action: A law on volunteering has been passed by the Macedonian government, which includes a definition of volunteering and provides volunteering guidelines.  YCC lobbied strongly for the passage of this law and hopes it will encourage more institutions to use volunteers. See Katie Wroblewski's blog titled 'New Law in Macedonia!' and a draft of the law(in Macedonian) for more information.
