Students Protest Against Monarchy At SAARC Secretariat
By the Collective Campaign For Peace
Students belonging to seven opposition parties protest King
Gyanendra’s participation in the SAARC summit on
Thursday, November 10.
Kathmandu, November 1, 2005- Student unions affiliated to seven political parties registered a formal protest at the SAARC Secretariat today. It has been stated that King's representation to 13th regional summit behalf of Nepal is not legitimate. The memorandum, jointly signed by the heads of student's union, was addressed to Begum Khalida Zia, the President of Bangladesh. It has been mentioned in the memorandum that King has formed the government against the constitution of 1990 and he has been destroying all pro-democracy agencies. As it is not a legal regime, the King does not have the capacity to represent the people of Nepal.
Earlier, the students protested in a rally at Amrit Science College to the SAARC Secretariat, and ended with a corner meeting at Sundhara.
