A Voice For the Voiceless

The Advocacy Project helps marginalized communities to tell their story, claim their rights and produce social change. We recruit graduate students to volunteer as Peace Fellows with partners.

The Impact of Service

"I look at myself as having the potential to be as strong and caring as the amazing women I met in Kenya."

Kate Cummings (Tufts University) volunteered in 2009 as a Peace Fellow for Vital Voices in Africa.

Nigeria – Trafficking to Europe

AP developed a partnership with the Women's Consortium of Nigeria (WOCON) in 1998. Two years later an AP team visited Nigeria to profile WOCON’s advocacy against the trafficking of Nigerian women from Nigeria to Italy. This resulted in a written series of On the Record - Girls for Sale. The project also introduced AP to the Transnational AIDS Prevention among Migrant Prostitutes in Europe Project (TAMPEP), an AP partner which assists trafficked women in Turin to escape from trafficking.

AP has sent several Peace Fellows to work on the issues of trafficking, both with WOCON and TAMPEP.
