In Kritipur area, having shown strong solidarity to pro-democracy movement right from the first day of the strike, showed tremendous unity and solidarity to the ongoing national general strike by organizing a unique peace rally and various cultural programs. More than 10,000 demonstrators which included teachers, farmers, students associated with the seven party alliance, women and elderly people, civil servants, businessmen. They completely took the Tribhuwan University area under control and blocked the entry of vehicle and declared the area as police prohibited zone and republican democracy zone. The demonstrators barricaded the gate of TU with large boulders, tree trunk and stones. The mass sat on the ground singing pro-democracy song, poetries etc.
Several people from the area addressed the gatherings on turns with highly emotional speeches. People were clapping hands to give rhythm to the movement. It was really a wonderful thing to witness such an uncommon demonstration. There was no intervention from the police side to disperse the crowd and the police did not make any attempt to break the barricade.
In Gongubu area also the demonstrators presented a peaceful gathering condemning the government anarchy on eleventh of April. Around 15000 people gathered to give continuity to the ongoing strike.
