Meet our Associates, a talented group of local graduate students that support the work of our partners around the world.

Dat AssociateTien Dat Tren- AEDP, Vietnam

22-year-old Tien Dat Tran has previously served as a volunteer at the SOS Children’s Village, a program that provides foster care and social programs for needy kids here in his hometown of Dong Hoi; he spent last summer at the village as a volunteer martial arts teacher. Dat’s instinct to care for and teach children and his experiences with disabled people drew him to work at AEPD.


Anisa Alawi- CRP, Lebanon

Anisa Alawi completed her Master’s (MSc) degree in Global Migration at University College London in 2014, specialising in refugee law and protection. She has volunteered and interned for numerous organisations including the Council of Europe and British Red Cross where she volunteered as a refugee caseworker before arriving in Jordan. In her spare time, she plays tennis, enjoys rock climbing and is a freelance web developer.

Prabal AssociatePrabal Thapa- NEFAD, Nepal

Prabal Thapa is a student at Kathmandu University majoring in Development Studies. He is particularly interested in Economics and has been working with NEFAD since 2015. He initially served as a volunteer and worked in a logistical capacity with various victim and family networks alongside Ram Bhandari, founder of NEFAD and his mentor. Since then, his role as developed to translation of interviews and program assistance. He is now the first NEFAD Associate and will be responsible for a variety of tasks including website management and coordination of the Bardiya Embroidery Cooperative.

Barbara AssociateBarbara Maina- CPI, Kenya

Barbara has recently joined the team as an AP Associate and as CPI Kenya’s communications director. She has just completed her degree in Social Communication with a major in print and web media from Tangaza University College. She has a diploma in administration and management from Strathmore University. She has over ten years of experience as an administrator and has previously worked in the banking industry, for a presidential campaign, and for various private consultancies in Kenya.

Manita Basinet

Manita Basnat- CONCERN, Nepal

Manita Basnet is originally from Kathmandu, Nepal. She is on her last year of her Bachelors in Social Work at Canvas International College, Tribhuvan University (TU). Manita started working as a volunteer for CONCERN-NEPAL in October 2016, being referred by one of her professors. She is excited to be now an AP Associate and to be able to keep contributing to this organization. She mostly enjoys doing field visits for CONCERN, as she wants to dedicate her professional career to help vulnerable children. On her free time, Manita likes reading novels and traveling to new places.

Mary Paul GDPU Associate

Mary Paul- GDPU, Uganda

Mary studied at  Gulu University and has a bachelor degree in business administration where she focused on accounting. She’s interested in seeing a society where every women , child and people living with disability human rights are respected and they are included in the political , social, and economic activities of the country. With her financial background she would love to see a society where value for money is exhibited and would like to acquire more skills in accounting up to management level. Her hobbies include making new friends, trying new things, and caring for others especially children.
