The Belize Forest Quilt (2013)

The blocks for this quilt were stitched by women in the village of Santa Teresa in Belize and celebrate the rich wildlife in the Sarstoon Temash National Park, which was threatened by oil exploration at the time. The stitching project was coordinated by Amy Bracken, an AP Peace Fellow who volunteered at The Sarstoon Temash Institute for Indigenous Management (SATIIM). This quilt is one of two Belize forest quilts commissioned by AP. Both were quilted by Barbara Barber in Rhode Island.
