The Mali Camel Quilt (2016)

The blocks for this quilt were stitched by women who fled from fighting in Northern Mali in 2012 and found refuge in the capital Bamako. The project was sponsored by Sini Sanuman (“Healthy Tomorrow”), an AP partner that works for women and girls, and coordinated by Giorgia Nicatore, an AP Peace Fellow. The quilt was assembled by Merry May in New Jersey.
