The Gracanica Roma Quilt (2012)

The blocks for this quilt were stitched by Roma artists near the town of Gracanica in Kosovo and described the traditional life of Roma women. The project was sponsored by Open Door, a Roma advocacy group, and organized by Peace Fellow Samantha Hammer. Farjia Mehmeti (left photo) led the stitching. The blocks were quilted by the Swan Lake Quilt Guild in South Carolina led by Bobbi Fitzsimmons and Sharon Sissons.
