The blocks for this quilt were stitched by women from the informal settlements of Kibera and Kangemi in Nairobi and describe the threat to women from the lack of services in the settlements. The stitching was organized by Sigrid Hansen and Gill Rebelo from the Kenya Quilt Guild during the UN Summit on Women and Girls held in Nairobi (ICPD25). Bobbi Fitzsimmons made the global backcloth and attached the blocks. The quilt was unveiled at the conference.
