AP seeks to work directly with community groups that represent constituencies of disempowered people and advocate for social justice. We are particularly committed to helping groups that are at an early stage in their institutional development.

In 2008, we worked with 34 community-based partners in 20 countries. All have received a Peace Fellow and all have a dedicated partner page on this site.

This past year alone, AP received around 280 inquires about partnership from around the world. While we welcome inquiries about new partnerships, typically partnerships are offered to between three and five new organizations a year. Those groups that shared our approach and met out criteria were offered a place on the AP website (on The Advocacy Forum) as a first step towards a more substantial partnership. Preference is given to advocates that emerge from the affected community and that use advocacy to produce social change.
