Srebrenica Victims’ Personal Effects Recovered from Mass Graves

26 Jun

The International Commission for Missing Persons (ICMP) is still working to identify victims of the Srebrenica (1995) and Zvornik (1992) massacres who are buried in the mass graves that scatter the region. As the victims are identified, many are reburied by their family members on July 11, the anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre. There are 1,500 cases currently being processed, and 15 mass graves that have not yet been exhumed. Above, personal effects of victims are on display at an ICMP cold storage area.
