Mackenzie Berg (Chintan Environmental Research and Action Group): MacKenzie received her undergraduate degree in cultural anthropology. She then traveled and worked in several developing countries before entering the graduate program at University of Denver. After her fellowship, Mackenzie wrote: "The various opportunities that I had to actually meet, talk to and interact with the waste pickers in their communities were the best for me—this was the most real, the most valuable in terms of information gathered [not just data, but the chance to make observations about sights, smells, emotions, etc, involved with their lives that helped me to understand their points of view and experience]."

So I have no experience making videos, and this is really basic, but it will hopefully add some preliminary context to the images I uploaded to Flickr last week. This was created from the photographs I took at the Cycle Kabari meeting last week, which we attended with Yogesh.

I’ve tried to provide a general understanding of the situation which Chintan is aiming to improve in their shoulder-to-shoulder work with the Kabaris; however, as I attend more meetings and continue to learn more, I hope to expand this context.

Hi Mackenzie,

I enjoyed your video and the weaving project looks so interesting. Please let us know when there is a website or eBay site where they are selling products.

I wish there were a cooperative like Chintan in Rabinal. I would personally welcome any trash picker to this corner of Guatemala with open arms.
