Angelina Xu

Angelina is currently a high school senior from Montgomery County, Maryland, and a proud new member of The Advocacy Project! She is passionate about the intersection between STEM and public policy. As the co-founder of the youth-led non-profit Compostology, she works hand in hand with school administrations and students to start novel composting and food recovery programs that turn would-be food waste into compost and food donations for the community. During her time, she has led a postcards campaign with 77 schools across Maryland to create the first-ever state grant program that gives $250,000 a year in grants for K-12 schools to start their own programs. She is passionate about empowering other students to forge their own change within their community as the president of the Maryland Association of Student Councils and the Advocacy Initiatives Director for her countywide student government, where she trained 60+ students for a lobbying day in her state's capital.
