Aayushma Rai

Aayushma Rai is a rising sophomore at Wellesley College and is interested in majoring in Peace and Justice Studies and exploring Environmental Studies and South Asian Studies. Passionate about empowering her Nepali community, Aayushma completed a civic engagement fellowship and is a current youth leader at Adhikaar for Human Rights and Social Justice based in NYC. She worked to mobilize the Nepali-speaking community through voter education and registration while facilitating culture and identity workshops for the youth program to strengthen community and engagement. Aayushma also has remotely worked with VolNepal, a non-profit organization based in Nepal, and helped establish the riseHER project, which aims to decrease the dropout rate of Nepali schoolgirls through Pen Pal Projects, Video Conferencing Classrooms, and Mini Library Projects. She is excited to work with Emma, Ram, and the CHRV Team on transitional justice in her Nepali community through the Advocacy Project this summer.
